Two bluebirds sit perched on a twisted wire. One bird is contemplating which key fits the lock heart.
In a corner of my studio is a pile of vintage wallpaper from a sample book, which I love very dearly. I wanted to use it in a very special way that it could be given a new life. That's when I found out how wonderful it looks collaged into a painting. The background was created using squares of vintage wallpaper. It gives the piece a very cool layered effect which is difficult to capture on a camera. If you look closely you can see the wallpaper showing through layers of acrylic washes.
