A Vintage Valentine's Greeting

This morning over a hot cup of coffee and a Valentine cookie, Mom and I celebrated the day by spreading her vintage Valentine card collection out all over the dining room table.

Many of the cards date back to her early childhood before WW2 in the 1930s. She grew up scrapbooking long before Cloth Papers Scissors Magazine ever came up with all those clever ideas on how to create lovely scrap journals.

Her first scrapbook, as a child, was an outdated wallpaper sample book that my grandfather brought home from his work at the local lumber yard. She just glued her snapshot collection right on to the flowery pattern pages of the sample book. Then added titles and tada instance scrapbooking. Here are a few favorites from Mom's collection.

The very first Valentine my mother ever received at 6 months old.

A small sampling of my mother's collection. These are from the 1930s.

Below is a selection of Vintage Valentines....most are cards. Just click on the image for more info. If you can't see the items below then click here to go directly to the online version of my blog.
