Total Eclipce of the Sun
August 21, 2017 10:18 AM was one of those unforgettable moments you will always remember where you were. Like the day Elvis Presley died or when you first heard the sad news about Princess Diana's passing. Only thankfully this was a joyous event.
We gathered with friends and loved ones in eager anticipation as we gazed up into the deep blue morning sky, into the bright sunlight, wearing our specially designed eclipse glasses. We watched as the moon inched it's way down until it completely blocked the sun's rays except for a circular halo of light. For a few moments the earth stood still as we watched in awe. There was so much to see and not enough time...it all happened so quickly. There was the 360 degree sunset, the weird wavy shadows on the sides of buildings and beautiful moon shaped shadows on the sidewalk. But the most spectacular thing to behold was the sun and moon as one. You couldn't help but burst out loud with emotion. It was truly a sight to see with our own eyes.
And then, in the blink of an eye life continued on as usual. Cars filled the streets, lawn mowers and leaf blowers filled the air with their noise. But we will forever remember that glorious day of August 21, 2017.
