Cut Flowers From the Garden

My last blog post was I showed scenes of the cut flower garden right outside the studio. It's the place I go when I need a painting break and a place to gather inspiration from. As promised, this follow up post shows you some of ways we enjoyed the flowers along with a few ideas for simple bouquets to decorate your home.

Blenda Studio Blog - Yarrow + Dahlia

I always thought yarrow grew only in white and yellow, but it comes in a variety of shades and is the perfect filler flower.

Sunflowers

I was so excited when this fluffy sunflower variety finally bloomed! It looks just like the ones Van Gogh used to paint.

Scabiosa

Scabiosa flowers are from the honeysuckle family. They are a delicate flower with a light delicate scent. After the scabiosa has finished blooming it develops into a beautiful pod that is often used in wedding bouquets.

Black Eyed Susan

These happy flowers are black-eyed-susan or rudbeckia. They are easy to grow and in our garden reseed by themselves every year.

Blenda Studio Zinnias

OMG! We had so many beautiful zinnias in all sorts of colors! It was such a treat counting all the different vibrant hues as they began to bloom earlier this summer.

Double click cosmos in the morning sun

An arrangement of double click cosmos catching morning rays of sunshine.
