Adler House Baker City

I love gathering inspiration from old historic places. On a recent trip to Eastern Oregon's  Baker City, we toured the 1889 Italianate Alder House.  Back in the late 1800s Baker City was once a booming place to be, even larger than the city of Portland was back then.

During his lifetime Leo Adler, a philanthropist, amassed a fortune of $21 million. He lived in this house for 94 years. Leo loved his home town so much that when he died he left everything, all $21 million to Baker City!

Adler House, Baker City, OR

Upstairs sitting room where you can see the original wallpaper covering the walls. One of the amazing things about this beautiful home is all the upstairs wallpaper is original and a sight to behold. Every room, ceiling and closet is covered.

Samples from different rooms. Each room covered in patterns of metallic papers.

Even the ceiling....wallpaper!

Adler family photos

Books in the library room

Inside the clothes closet....not much room to hang things.

Ohh, cute flowers
